About Us

Indian Private Ports & Terminals Association - (IPPTA) is an association of private ports and terminal operators of container terminals and bulk terminals of India.  IPPTA has been formed to address the need to form a strong representative body of Indian private ports and terminal operators as an industry, which is one of the successful privatization industries in India today. Members of IPPTA, all existing private operators cumulatively represent an investment of more than Rs. 6500 crores in port sector.

The objects of the Association include providing a forum for the private operators and private ports to interact with each other and formulate joint strategies for the removal of difficulties and impediments coming in the way of their successful functioning.

Indian Private Ports and Terminals Association (IPPTA) is registered under Societies Registration Act, 1860 and with the Charity Commissioner.

"To be the apex association which will play a pivotal role in the Indian Maritime Industry by facilitating  the development of a modern and vibrant port sector through the promotion of private ports and terminals which will co-exist and compete with state owned ports in a dynamic, healthy, and level playing field."

"An association which will promote the interest of the private ports and terminals in India in order to enable them to provide world class cost efficient services to their customers."

To achieve this we will:

  • Develop a strong business network to assist one another;
  • Promote best practices by our members;
  • Liaise and interact with various statutory, governments, legal and private entities to ensure that the non-tangible and tangible infrastructure to achieve this goal is available;
  • Interact with various agencies, organizations to ensure that the combined voice of Indian Private Ports and Terminals Association is heard, leading to better efficiency for trade;
  • To set up safety and related standards and take up programmes for protection of the environment.
